Project signed by BACCO Arquitetos expands service capacity from 3.3 million to 8.4 million passengers / year
The project for the New Vitória Airport - Eurico de Aguiar Salles Airport - with a project signed by Bacco Arquitetos, is ready. Consisting of four buildings, Passenger Terminal (TPS), Fire Department Building (ECB), Control Tower (TWR) and Utility Center (CUT), in addition to parking lots, concierge and the access road system, The project was structured in a longitudinal central axis in concrete that works as the building's “backbone” concentrating technical areas and vertical circulations.
In this central block the metal structure of the two large roofs is anchored. The proposed mixed structure seeks the contrast between the techniques: the lightness of steel and the malleability of concrete. In addition to providing great flexibility in the organization of the program, allowing adjustments, even in the long term, without interference in the initial concept of the building. The function distribution scheme - Check-in and Landing on the ground floor, Boarding, business and administrative activities on the upper level - has made it possible to efficiently resolve terminal flows by creating fluid spaces with great transparency. The central voids, high ceilings and formal simplicity of the building contribute to an easy perception of the space, facilitating the TPS user's orientation.
The building's shape and its south-north orientation (future expansion axis) allowed the creation of “attraction poles”, such as the food court terrace overlooking the sea and the approach axis of the aircraft. The TPS roof is designed in metal tiles, curved to avoid punctual reflections in aircraft, in bold colors constituting the fifth facade design, which is fundamental for airports.
The runways have been expanded from 1,750 m to 2,058 m, to serve international flights. The project also foresees a transit yard and aircraft parking with 45,300 m² and ten new taxiways. The objective of the project is to increase the capacity of the capixaba terminal from 3.3 million to 8.4 million passengers per year. Bacco also signed the project for the New Terminal of Belo Horizonte International Airport, in Confins (MG), cited as one of the best in the world by Airports Council International, being the only Brazilian airport on the list of airports that receive between 5 and 15 million passengers per year.
