Unveiled at MIPCOM 2019, the annual TV market trade show in Cannes, this new pavilion houses BBC Studios during the event. A project by Universal Design Studio in collaboration with Giles Miller Studio, the pavilion is designed so that is can be easily dismantled, reused and ultimately recycled at the end of its lifespan.

The recyclable curving façade was designed by Giles Miller Studio. Mimicking the impression of a theatre curtain, the exterior skin is made of tiny scale-like aluminium louvres, which are clipped onto the structure. These louvres help the structure control direct sunlight while maintaining views outward towards the Mediterranean Sea. At night, light filters through the louvres, creating an illuminated look.

Inside, the pavilion hosts two floors of flexible work and hospitality spaces designed to meet the needs of one of the world’s biggest producers and distributors of TV content.
