Clyde is an interactive lamp with multiple personalities, completely customizable by his owner. Fabule offers several easy-to-add “personality modules”, comprised of sensors and software, that control how Clyde interacts with his environment. For example, the “Touchy-Feely” module allows users to change Clyde’s color by touching his legs. The “Afraid-of-the-Dark” module, on the other hand, lets Clyde light up automatically with a sequence of sunset colors when the room gets dark.

Acting both as a bright desk lamp and a multicolor ambient light, Clyde has six flexible legs that allow you to position him however you want, or even hang him upside down. With a whimsical, jellyfish-like design and squishy silicone components, Clyde is always fun to play with. His interactions with his environment can be configured to respond to touch, to ambient light levels, or even remote control. Clyde is extremely easy to open up and customize according to your needs and desires, even if you’re not an expert with sensors or software: simply add or exchange one of his personality modules. Clyde’s brain is Arduino compatible, so for those who know how to program, or who want to learn, the possibilities are endless.

Clyde was initially conceived and sketched in Fabule’s Montréal studio. Amanda and Bruno, Fabule’s founders, then spent more than three months in Shenzhen, China in order to develop Clyde from a concept into a high-quality, manufacturable product. Clyde’s design took place as part of the HAXLR8R program, an accelerator for hardware startups that aims to bridge the gap between “makers” and manufacturers.

Clyde is a lamp with a lot of personality that you can adapt, play with, and truly call your own. His features are:

A unique, organic design, manufactured to exacting quality standards. High-intensity, energy-efficient LED task lighting. Soft, colourful ambient lighting. Bendy legs that can rest on or hang off of almost anything. Designed for assembly. We make it easy to understand how Clyde works. Modules to make Clyde react to his environment.
