Corbeille Lounger

The French word “ corbeille ” (basket in English) evokes the traditional upholstery form of “en corbeille” popularized in francophile interiors of the nineteenth century. The Corbeille Lounger is a modern take on this classic upholstery typology. Basket-like, enveloping, plush and louche, this chair is made for fainting. With all of its edges eased and smoothed to inviting curves, this chair belongs in a world without corners. The individual “petals” of upholstery, that come together in a perfectly cylindrical form, are separated ever so slightly, giving the chair a feminine and yet abstractly modern character.
