Supraeco SAS, a versatile split air/water heat pump with a very good price-performance ratio, has been added to the range offered by Junkers, the Bosch Thermotechnology brand. Two different indoor units are available for combination with the outdoor unit. This makes the device an interesting alternative for heating and air conditioning in new buildings as well as for combinations with existing heating systems in existing buildings where it is often more difficult to use brine/water heat pumps because drilling and earth probes are not always possible or too expensive.

Thanks to the output control of the heat pump by means of inverter technology (torque regulation of the compressor by an inverter), Supraeco SAS works very efficiently all year round, above all at partial load operation in-between seasons. The compressor rpms and the ventilator levels of the outdoor unit are automatically adapted to the actual heat requirement. This means that the heat pump will achieve high output figures especially when less heat is required, e.g. in spring or on mild days of autumn. This also re-duces the number of starts and stops. The 10 kW version, for exam-ple, achieves a COP of up to 3.4 (to EN 14511 with A2/W35). Junkers also offers output ratings of 7 and 12 kW. The maximum flow pipe temperature in the heating circuit is 55 °C.

The thermotechnology specialist offers two different hydraulics modules for the indoor unit. The hydraulics module ASB (Air Split Bivalent) is suitable for connection to an existing boiler – and thus perfect for benefitting from the advantages of heat pumps in exist-ing buildings at low cost. The hydraulics module ASE (Air Split Electrical) is tailored to the needs in new buildings or modernised existing buildings. A modulating electric heater will cover any peak requirements. This module comes standard-fitted for air condition-ing, i.e. with insulated water-bearing lines to prevent condensation. This means that Supraeco SAS will provide for a pleasant room climate also on hot days. A floor heating system or fan convectors can be used to keep rooms cool in summer.

The controller allows to adjust the interaction of the heat pump and the boiler perfectly to ensure optimum energy efficiency. With two interior versions at hand, installers can offer their customers the right solution that suits their needs. Their dimensions of 850 x 500 x 420 mm (height x width x depth) are quite compact. All hydrau-lics components are already integrated. Supraeco SAS may also be used for water heating; a suitable hot water storage is available from Junkers as well.
