Luca Nichetto has just begun a new chapter in his career by expanding his studio beyond Italy’s borders into Sweden. The Studio Wolfgang, with which Nichetto shares the same passions and ideas as well as a workspace in Stockholm, is partnering with him for this new adventure.
The Wolfgang project is the first entirely conceived by this collaborative team, and, as such, it represents a sort of homage to the hospitality Nichetto has enjoyed in Sweden and an expression of optimism for his new “Scandinavian life”.
In particular, the curved wood used to create the chair’s seat and back, which work in perfect harmony with the solid wood of the legs and supporting structure, offers an explicit reference to Scandinavian design.
The project’s inspiration came from the way in which the wood used in the chair is treated, an aspect that emerged from observing the chairs designed by Hans J. Wegner and Michael Thonet, each of which is characterized by a unique use of the materials involved.
Wolfgang’ s collection, produced by Fornasarig, presented during the design week in Milan in 2011 included a chair and an armchair in natural wood or painted wood with seat or back in wood or upholstered, the colors palette inspired by the wall paintings; Wolfgang’s collection is now broad new elements. The upholstered lounge chair, the coffee tables in two sizes, the side table and a bar table are made with the same philosophy of design and finish.
