The Zihua chaise longue was designed for the hotel Ventanas al Paraiso in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The idea came from a fish skeleton, which natural form is like an “S” shape. When left in the beach, it dries and only its bones become apparent, the same thing with how the chair is formed. I have always been obsessed on how things work and this experience is about that. Nature as a furniture.
The idea came from the pool which was an infinity one and started as a beach; the commission was to design the outdoor furniture. So I desired to embrace the shape of the pool and stay very low to the floor just to have the feeling that you were lying on the beach.
The idea was that the piece should look great with or without the cushions. So that was how it was solved.
