The project of a new semi-detached house called 2PEAKS is an apartment-type building designed for recreational stays. The design emphasizes landscape views, a mountain character, and modern comfort. The name refers to the two dominant peaks of the Ore Mountains – Klínovec and Fichtelberg. An interesting aspect of the concept is the precise use of coordinates, which allowed us to position the windows in both gables so that the peaks are perfectly centered in the view from the dining tables.
Each building consists of three spacious apartment units with three rooms and a kitchenette, covering a floor area of 103 m². Conceptually, the floors were differentiated according to their intended use, providing luxurious comfort and a unique experience. The ground-floor apartments offer direct contact with the terrain through a private terrace with a whirlpool. The first-floor units provide rear access to the garden, while the attic apartments feature open ceilings with exposed rafters and the best panoramic views. The basement contains garages, ski storage, bicycle storage, and technical facilities designed for full-scale operation.
The material design of the semi-detached house reinforces the connection between the building and its surroundings. The façade is clad in Siberian larch, with two board widths alternating in an irregular rhythm that is echoed on the terraces, interior wooden floors, and wall cladding in the common areas. The wooden façade allows the building to blend organically into the landscape, and over time, the wood develops a natural patina, further integrating the structure with its environment. The basement level combines sheet metal cladding and gabion baskets. The roof is made of standing seam sheet metal in a color matching the base, visually grounding the entire structure and giving it a solid foundation.
The form and concept of the semi-detached house highlight the dialogue between architecture and the landscape. The architectural approach combines contemporary minimalism with the tradition of mountain architecture while emphasizing details that enhance comfort and the quality of stay. The overall expression of the house results from balancing simplicity, functionality, and sensitive integration into the terrain.
