This project outlines the development of an agritourism facility, company headquarters, and farmer’s residence for an agricultural enterprise, situated in the municipality of Vallelaghi, Trentino (Italy), where aromatic herbs, medicinal plants and spices are primarily cultivated.
The intervention area consists mainly of cultivated plots, arranged in a semicircular pattern along stone terraces sloping southwards. This project site is surrounded by a landscape of noteworthy beauty, therefore offering privileged views of Valle dei Laghi and the lakes of Santa Massenza and Toblino.
The morphology of the land positioned on down-sloping terraces, facing south, and the presence of retaining stonewalls logically led to a design that developed largely below ground level, embedding new functions within the existing stepped terrain.
This approach also preserves as much cultivated surface area as possible, allowing guests to really feel immersed in both nature and active agricultural lifestyle
Three monolithic spatial volumes visibly protrude out from the terraces. These are faceted forms with steeply pitched roofs, clad in pink-red stone sourced directly from on-site excavations, and fully glazed with views onto the landscape.
While the roof is developed as if it were a façade, thus offering views of the area from above.
The rooms set within the retaining walls are equipped with private patios that mediate between public and private spaces, ensuring natural light and clear views.
