The owners of the Martim Francisco apartment came to us wishing to organize their living room through only one element. Since the beginning, the project looked at all the activities that happened in that space, and then achieved a design of a singular shelf that included these uses.
What guided the project? What were the inspirations?
From this room, other issues emerged to be resolved, like the garden and the guest room next to the kitchen. The color chosen for the walls highlighted the plants, and the vertical garden dominated the wall. The long concrete bench hides an automated irrigation system, and serves as party-day seats for lots of people. The wood door divides the garden and the guest room, and, combined to the ceiling, also in wood, creates a comfortable space for rest.
Rack for TV, bar, record player, china cabinet and even a bench are some of the functions of this shelf, making it modular and light. The rest of the space follows this custom-made steelwork, that is the highlight of the apartment.
Main points of the project
The multifunctional shelf of the living room is the highlight of the project, ‘cause it starts at the entrance, serving as a headgear, goes through the dining room, serving as a china cabinet and a bar, and finally arrives at the TV room, where it serves as a rack and bench for meetings with friends.
Curiosity
As it is a ground floor apartment, the backyard has a roof that allows an integration with the dining room and the kitchen, bringing some nature to the interior of the apartment.
