An apartment in the lower part of Prague's popular Letná district was discovered by the current owners after a detailed search for a suitable space that would provide them with enough space for not only for comfortable living but also for beautiful, spatially expressive keyboard instrument - the harpsichord. The favorite among the flats they viewed enchanted them by its location and, despite its generally neglected appearance, by its many original features and details. They feared that it would not provide enough space for all the functions they wanted from the apartment.
Fortunately, this concern was dispelled relatively quickly by designing appropriate modifications to the layout.
These were not essential, but they allowed maximum use of the space. The apartment has been lightened overall by connecting the two main rooms and has acquired a generous character. The completely inadequate sanitary was cleverly redesigned so that despite its small size, it provides all the comforts.
The central corridor, originally a dark, cramped space, has been sensually enlarged by the use of glass and mirrors and transformed beyond recognition. Two smaller rooms facing the courtyard now serve as bedrooms and a study. The aforementioned harpsichord has found its place in the heart of the layout. It can be separated from the main living space by the original folding doors or it can remain part of the lounge.
The color and material scheme of the apartment refers to the period of the First Republic, in which the apartment or house was built. The original windowsills of the flats were restored and a contemporary version of this material was used as a kitchen worktop. The furniture that was part of the equipment when purchased was professionally restored. The interior was complemented by several other pieces of furniture from the same time period.
A striking feature of the space is the bookcase, which was designed to the owners' requirements. The main Color of the interior is green, which runs in different shades throughout the apartment.
