Architekturmuseum _ Stiftung Insel Hombroich

Poetic expression is alvaro sizas underlining idea of nature and this is translated to his art institute project placed in the landscape. Arriving at the missle station of insel hombroich, only the roof of the building is visible, at first. A well laid out route leads the visitor through banks of earth, towards the main entrance. Enterng the museum, one can reach the main space, designed around a spectacular view of the landscape . All rooms are orientated arund this center courtyard, offering framed views of the terrain and skyline of düsseldorf. An armlike extension of the building leads to a volume that contains the photo collection and gives even more tension to the ensemble.
