Ascanio House

The villa, immersed in the quiet of a green Mediterranean garden, is reached by a long avenue of palm trees, after leaving the main road at a higher altitude. You are so pleasantly surrounded by nature and welcomed by a quiet place full of charm. The renovation has affected the entire property, built in the 70's and now obsolete, enhancing some existing formal elements and integrating others in search of a unified image.

The distribution system, disjointed in its functions and lacking in hierarchies, was indifferent to the relationship with the garden and the adjacent outdoor spaces.      The concept at the base of the project wanted to restore the internal-external relationship, displacing the entrance of the house along the central axis of the garden and at the same time enhancing the new path in the creation of environments that follow each other in a fluid dynamic sequence.

The restructuring has reshaped the spaces and paths to make more organic use and livability of environments. It was therefore decided to intervene on the existing masonry structure by creating a new score of prospects, according to the new spatial distribution of the house. Inside, new perspective views have been created, which have privileged the view of the garden from the large windows.

The fronts have been upgraded and the entrance, previously indifferent, has been enhanced with a texture of polychrome bricks in terracotta. On the outside, the design intervention is unified by a metal crowning ribbon that wraps around itself, incorporating the original perimeter overhang.

The living area is enriched by a small space created for relaxation and meditation, marked by a large window that cancels the boundary with the outside, creating an intimate space dedicated to reading and music, and puts it in relation with the beautiful Mediterranean garden.

The colors and materials chosen, as well as the custom-made furniture (the bookcase with an integrated sliding door) and other antique furniture, contribute to create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere, creating environments capable of communicating comfort and serenity.
