Bahraini Villa Remodel

The owners approached us with the desire to transform their 2001-built villa in Busaiteen into a modern home that would balance everyday functionality with the charm and elegance of a boutique hotel. The brief was to reimagine the interiors with a luxurious yet livable feel, using a compact footprint efficiently while celebrating a sense of Bahraini identity. The family wanted spaces that catered to both intimate family living and social gatherings, while also reflecting their personal tastes and cultural roots.

The main challenge was working within the constraints of the existing structure. The villa had a modest layout with limited spatial flow, so reconfiguring spaces to feel larger and more open without major structural changes required careful planning. Another challenge was integrating contemporary luxury finishes without overwhelming the authenticity and warmth of the original Bahraini home. Balancing durability with refinement was also important, as the design needed to withstand the daily rhythm of a young family while still evoking a sense of boutique-style sophistication.

Materials were selected to reinforce both the luxury and the local identity of the remodel. Rich natural marbles were used in bathrooms and feature areas to create a sense of timeless grandeur. Locally sourced stone and hand-applied finishes were incorporated to reflect Bahraini craftsmanship, while custom joinery brought warmth and tailored functionality to compact spaces. Scenic wallpapers were chosen to add narrative and depth, inspired by the lush historic gardens and cultural textures of Bahrain. Metals and mirrors were introduced in moderation to add glamour and lightness without overpowering the calm, earthy palette. Every choice was about layering luxury with livability, ensuring the home felt both elevated and deeply personal.
