This is the shop of Mr. Baba, a young barber who branched out from BADNICE, a long-established barbershop in Shimokitazawa.
This time, we were only commissioned for the design.
The owner's concept for BARBERBABA was a hybrid of barbering and hairdressing.
A key point was to keep the cost of the space down while prioritizing furniture and fixtures, so the space was kept as simple as possible, while paying close attention to the details of the furniture.
The counter was finished with 4mm gaps (a design with slits) at each joint, and glass sliding doors were installed to display hair styling products and combs.
The materials used for the furniture throughout the space were lauan and meranti veneer, finished with wax.
By scattering heavy, dark brown furniture in a light and warm space, a comfortable and calming atmosphere was created.
