Bimam is a specialized physiotherapy center located on Calle Jesús in Palma de Mallorca. Two friends, physiotherapists with energy and clear ideas, decided to take the leap and open their own space: a place that reflects their way of understanding health, the body, and care.
The interior design project stems from this dual identity: technical and sensitive. The premises occupy the ground floor of a 1960s building on one of the main arteries of Palma’s Ensanche district. The intervention preserves the existing structure and works from the inside out, transforming an open-plan space into a sequence of rooms that invites calm.
Materiality is the central argument of the project. Natural oak, used in wall veneers, ceilings, and joinery, organizes the interior zoning through a curved volume that separates the reception area from the treatment rooms. Opposite this, mineral stucco surfaces in cream tones dialogue with the travertine marble flooring, materials that evoke Mediterranean architecture without falling into folklorism.
Lighting, always warm and softly diffused, is designed in two layers: indirect light recessed into the edges of the wooden volume, making it appear to float, and wall lamps and pendants selected as distinctive pieces. The multipurpose room, measuring 31 m², receives zenithal natural light through a large window facing the access street, providing an open and flexible space for Pilates and group physiotherapy.
The five individual treatment rooms repeat the same formal language: a semicircular arch cut into the plaster partition, an oak cabinet with an integrated sink set on a countertop with a gold tap, and an electric treatment table, always accompanied by vegetal elements to add freshness. The formal coherence between all the rooms reinforces the brand identity while maintaining the warmth of the space.
Bimam is, ultimately, an architectural project in which materiality and light take center stage, and where the domestic scale of the details highlights the work carried out within.
