Broadland Housing Association

Carrow quarter

Ingleton Wood have been appointed as Masterplan Architects, Lead Designers and Planning Consultants for the redevelopment of a new mixed use Quarter in Norwich city centre. The exciting new scheme, in close proximity to Norwich City Football Club main stand, should see the provision of new retail, commercial and health facilities in addition to 228 flats and 45 contemporary townhouses. The scheme, to commence in Autumn 2012, will be heavily focussed on sustainability. Reduced energy costs and carbon emissions have been a primary driver from early design stage.

The scheme aims to achieve Passivhaus standard throughout and could be one of the largest schemes of this type in the UK. The development is split across two sites, each with its own distinctive character. Construction will use cross laminate timber superstructures to maximise speed of erection on site whilst delivering striking building forms and well planned living spaces. Previous construction projects for the same client have informed the selection of materials, which is enabling effective cost planning from early stages. The schemes are also surrounded by well planned landscaped areas which draw strong references from the local riverside character.
