The homeowner, a successful entrepreneur, commissioned the construction of a headquarters building on privately owned land and reserved the top floor as a retreat for occasional overnight stays and gatherings with family and friends. Generous in scale and designed for comfort, the space was never intended as a permanent residence. During the planning process, beyond providing independent living areas for both parents and children, the design sought to create a seamless and transparent communal environment that would encourage interaction among family members. Strengthening connection and communication became a central theme of the project.

A key challenge in the spatial planning was how to fully connect the elongated site. Upon entering, the area along the window to the right serves as a yoga space for the female homeowner while also functioning as the circulation route leading to the open-air courtyard. Along the left axis, service-oriented public spaces—including the kitchen and dining area—are positioned beneath the lower ceiling. The double-height volume accommodates the primary communal zones, such as the living room, loft, and reading area, each defined by a distinct character. The private quarters are arranged along the rear of this axis, subtly separated through functional elements such as bathrooms and storage rooms, creating a natural division without disrupting the overall openness.

Compared to smaller residences, larger spaces require a more deliberate hierarchy of materials and spatial relationships. Throughout the interior, a custom white textured finish forms the foundation of the design, establishing a calm and understated atmosphere. Given the restrained and consistent palette, particular attention was paid to the expression of light and shadow to reinforce a sense of orientation and scale. Steel detailing is therefore used to articulate lines and define spatial moments—from the gently curved handrail leading to the loft to the open shelving elements—highlighting the unique character of the space. Meanwhile, wood veneer surfaces applied to the cabinetry introduce warmth and visual stability. Through the careful interplay of light and dark, soft and rich tones, the design composes a harmonious living landscape that feels both refined and inviting.
