Building on the success of two new full-floor spaces in Calvin Klein’s headquarters building in New York City’s fashion district, ARO was the architect for the revitalization of Calvin Klein’s flagship on Madison Avenue working in close collaboration with artist Sterling Ruby, who conceived the concept for the space.
The 26,000 sf, four-story flagship’s classic 1990’s John Pawson design is transformed to represent the iconic American brand’s new direction under creative director Raf Simons. The entire interior of the store is a vision of yellow contrasting the limestone neo-classical facade.Scaffolding throughout the space creates a density that plays off of the rigor of the original store. The scaffolding serves as a display for both the clothing and Sterling Ruby’s art, which populates the space. The project was unveiled in August 2017.
