We were approached by one of the largest Real Estate developers in the country to design a 21 stories tall apartment complex. They wanted to have just to types of units, but with different variations on the apartments, we developed a scheme with 16 different arrangements for each unit.
The main characteristic of the apartments is that each has a large balcony with a built in planter to house large vegetation, and the way the balconies are arranged allows for each apartment to have a large tree, but also have the canopy of the tree from the apartment beneath to rise up to your balcony.
The project has a built in water treatment plant to filter the water used from the showers, and it is used to irrigate all the vegetation from a central location.
The main material used in the project is a long format clay brick, with a rough finish, the bricks are used extensively in the façade, but they also permeate to the interior of the apartments giving a sense of continuity between the interior and the exterior, coupled with the large balconies it gives the dwellings a sense of connection with the outside, as if each one had a private garden.
