The project aim is a small school building surrounded by the scenery and environment of the high Catalan Pyrenees mountains. These circumstances have taken to a building of very simple geometry in strong relation to its surroundings, giving the prominence it deserves to the last. The area's climatic conditions (with lots of snow during the winter) require a sloped roof. This architectural element, with dissymmetric eaves, cover and concentrate the rooms and spaces of the center. Under the greatest of the eaves are the classrooms and activity areas which open with big windows to the outdoor playground, the views to the valley and the sun, while the auxiliary and service areas group towards the access road, separated from the classrooms by a distribution hallway. The entrance is located at the center of the building, into a great multi-purpose hall which transforms into an indoor playground on rainy days and bad weather. This space acts as a great articulation between the classrooms and the library and thematic classrooms. The school is a simple and unpretentious piece of public equipment, planned parting from its use and maintenance, with a formal language in harmony with its natural surroundings. The simplicity of its geometry turns it into an adaptable and multi-purpose space adapted to the needs and customs of the small mountain community which it serves, acting as a reference point for its inhabitants.
