Changshin Church

Seoinn Design Group as Architects

The site itself is surrounded by curvy geometry of the elevated highways, stream from the mountain and mountain on the back. Although the site has beautiful scene of the nature on mountain, it is the intersection point of many roads and highways. Therefore noise from passing automotuves are the main concern for sacred worship place.

In order to create the proper sacred worhip place, we created the additional layer of the wall which surrounds the stacked program of main chapel, cafeteria and many meeting rooms for the church.

Curvy geometry of the site, streams, shape of the highways made the traces of the passing cars, and this responds to the curvy stone facade in front. Main chapel is located at the 2nd floor and two stairs along the curve walls between concrete and curtain wall facade made people to move easily from the main ritual to the ground.

Curvy stonce facade has opening towards the lobby and deck area at the second floor. Wooden louvers are installed to fileter the lights and outside images from outside to inside.

Contrary to the curve front facade, we have cube entrace made out of exposed concret to distinguish the main entrace to the worship space.
