Itacolomi Clinic

The project is characterized by the occupation of an old rented residence that now houses an interdisciplinary children's clinic. The proposal is based on the needs program, which partially occupies the old house, redesigning the new spatiality from the original design.

The project is organized around a central core of bathrooms and an existing electrical shaft. The receptionists' room extends the core and configures, on one side, the waiting room with the playroom, and on the other side, the access corridor for professionals and the consultation rooms. The project begins after the definition of the needs program and takes advantage of the available resources for the work, which focused on a new facade and the reception area, as well as the new layout to accommodate the five interdisciplinary consultation rooms.

From the original facade, an envelope is designed with the intention of configuring unity for the pre-existing volume. The proposed skin attaches to the parapet through a metal mesh of “U” profiles, covered by plasterboards produced with special glass and polymer composite additives, providing greater resistance to humidity, UV rays, and dimensional stability.

The new shell is supported by the structural metal mesh itself, which is fixed to the parapet, refusing to touch the ground, dressing the original volume. This 40cm release reveals the original walls of the house recessed by 90cm and provides lightness to the new ensemble.
