Following the same goal of updating and enhancing the visual identity of its buildings, the Barreiros Association, located north of Ilhabela, hired us to develop the renovation project for the Coordinators' building.
It was a building with the characteristics of a fisherman's house, whose interior masonry layout and delimited spaces were outdated in terms of finishes and materials. Most importantly, its space was insufficient to meet the demands of the Association's professionals.
The main premise was to preserve the original street-facing façade, so we decided to add an area to the back, facing the office, where the glass-covered balcony used to be. Thus, we "stretched" the main room to the back and utilized the characteristics of the metal structure, such as bridging large spans with low beam heights and speed of construction. This structure also served as support for the entire metal roof structure, composed of Alwitra's vinyl sheet system.
With this increased area, the entire layout was revised and remodeled, with new, top-quality corporate furniture and exclusive cabinetry designed by our office.
The large windows were made of wood, with aesthetic precision and exquisite quality in their mechanisms, ensuring beauty and practicality for daily use.
A large central sliding door allows the room to be subdivided into two when necessary, increasing the versatility of the space. The floor finish followed the standard used in the Association's other buildings, using wood-effect porcelain tiles, whose durability facilitates cleaning and minimizes maintenance, while also providing excellent visual results.
We again adopted the rammed earth wall (a technique offering excellent mechanical strength and excellent thermal comfort), now in strategically positioned masonry. We also specified an autoclaved pine lining both inside and along the eaves, creating a sense of continuity with the roof.
The existing balcony was redesigned, maintaining the concept of a lightweight wood structure, laminated glass roof, and straw-like lining, preserving the continuity of the complex and protecting the spaces from strong sunlight and heat.
