The redevelopment plan for the Coverciano Federal Technical Centre addresses the transformation of a symbolic place in Italian sport: the home of Italy’s national football teams, a complex developed from the 1950s onwards within a landscape of exceptional quality. The aim is to upgrade and extend the complex without disrupting its identity, bringing it into line with the contemporary needs of athletes and staff.

The master plan understands Coverciano as a unified system rather than a collection of separate buildings. Routes, pitches, accommodation, technical facilities, green areas and representative spaces are coordinated through a phased strategy that can adapt over time while ensuring that activities continue uninterrupted. Restoration and enhancement of the existing fabric are combined with carefully considered new additions, prioritising durable and efficient solutions that respect the centre’s landscape character.

Studio Lauria’s experience in sports architecture is expressed through a method grounded in real needs, careful listening to the client and a close understanding of operational processes. Sustainability is made tangible through reduced consumption, reuse of existing assets, careful control of operating costs, accessibility and user wellbeing. By coordinating architecture, landscape, building services and internal mobility, the project turns functional constraints and construction phases into a coherent vision.
