Dress for Success Charlotte occupies an 8,000-square-foot facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, now its permanent home. The program extends well beyond a conventional office, bringing together a boutique for professional clothing, warehouse operations, mentoring spaces, job preparation resources, conference rooms, and private meeting areas under one roof. Every element supports the same underlying goal: an environment built on dignity, confidence, and connection, where visitors feel valued from the moment they arrive.
The project took shape within an existing building carrying its own layered history, requiring the design team to balance budget-conscious decision-making with a refined design approach that elevates the overall experience. Four guiding themes structure the work throughout: Industrial Chic, Community Hub, Supportive Sanctuary, and Foundation to Thrive. Together, they inform a material and spatial language that remains consistent from the boutique, the design's clear focal point, through every other space in the facility.
Close collaboration among the client, contractor, and project team shaped the outcome, a purpose-built home for Dress for Success Charlotte that supports its mission and strengthens its connection to the surrounding community.
