Viruta Lab refurbishes the interior of a historic house in the old center of Valencia. A detailed work to enhance the value of the pre-existing elements and their architectural stamp.
The historic center of Valencia exhales tradition, art and culture. Its low, colorful buildings host century-old houses surrounded by charming and lively squares. In one of them, located on Sala Street, is this house designed by María Daroz and David Puerta, the creative team of the Valencian architecture and interior design studio Viruta Lab.

A home that projects the value of tradition and the taste for ancient crafts through the prism of contemporaneity. In it, they have done a meticulous work of conservation of the pre-existing historical pieces. Thanks to the studio's deep background in the conservation of architectural heritage, it has been possible to restore the essence and the place to all the elements of this house.
The sculptural and antique carved wooden doors have been recovered, thus enhancing the nobility and craftsmanship of its carpentry. The traditional tile carpet that dresses the floor of the space is a unique tribute to the cultural legacy of Valencian ceramics, as is the mosaic of Noia. Also, a classic marble fireplace in the main bedroom brings back the bourgeois charm of the living room previously located in this area, while creating a warm and cozy atmosphere.

In this full rehabilitation, the functionality of each of the rooms has been studied and the distribution has been updated to our time. In it, the day areas have been arranged closer to the entrance and the night area on the opposite side, thus promoting, on the one hand, the privacy of these spaces and, on the other, a more fluid sequence of living areas.
Besides, Viruta Lab has created new languages through tonalities. A minimal color palette creates the perfect dialogue between past and present. White and charcoal gray coexist in harmony to give emphasis to the strong identity of the house.
