Ersan House
Ahmet Can Ersan

The plot is near a seaside settlement called Yahşi in Bodrum Turkey. The location is in enough distance from the crowded touristic part of the area to obtain a calm and relaxed life style yet it has the potential to access to facilities in 10 minutes.

The surrounding has low density private housing character mostly composed of 2 storey summer villas with gardens. The plot has an area of 5000 sqm with a very sloppy nature. There is 25 m difference from one side to other.

The key element of the design is the huge rock which is observable through every where covering almost 1/3 of the plot.

Preserving this sculpture like beauty and to evaluate it as a part of the project is the main motive of the design. Without blocking the visuality of the rock and integrating the natural platform to the house; pastoral scenery of Yahşi framed by every opening of the project.

E-House reaches to this natural platform on the rock like a bridge on one side and attached to the ground only with a moderate tower-like structure on the other side.

The platform on the rock establishes the necessary out door space for the house and provides a terrace in harmony with the nature. Rock becomes a spatial element of the house and mutually the house becomes a part of the rock by this use.

The floor where living room, kitchen and master bedroom planned exists on a level 5.50 m height from the ground in form of a bridge. The guest rooms and related facilities are planned on other two basement floors.

After decades passed with dreams, spaces and suggestions on other lives; designing for your very self with the remaining of a life time practice on architecture, to dream for your dreams, also reveals the most apparent phase of ones struggle of it own existence. E-House is a proposal by the designer for him self. E-house can be assumed as a confrontation of nature and man made structure with out being in a challenge but hopefully in harmony.
