Pedro Reyes is a Mexican artist. He uses sculpture, architecture, video, performance and participation. His works aims to increase individual or collective agency in social, environmental, political or educational situations.
In collaboration with Pedro Reyes, we designed his studio and workshop, where several requirements needed to be fulfill. A brutalist statement for the colonial neighborhood of Coyoacan, systems that allowed to reduce electrical consumption, used by the heavy machinery use to work the stone of his sculptures, rain and water re-use, and acoustic comfort for the surrounding houses The result is a monolithic building, cast in grey concrete through artesanal craftsma ship. Several mock-ups were developped to study the di erent patterns and pre cast materials.
