Hampstead Road

Designed by Make and RHWL Architects, the Hampstead Road development provides high quality, flexible office and warehouse facilities in a prominent central London location between Camden, Euston and the West End. This striking and dynamic scheme will revitalise the site and surrounding area, providing a gateway to the city for visitors arriving from the north by road and rail and creating an exemplar for environmental office design.

The scheme is organised into two distinct buildings separated by an atrium which runs the length of the site to create a central communal 'street' which will significantly re-engage the site with its urban context, terminating in a spectacular circular canopy that establishes a distinctive presence at the Hampstead Road entrance. The atrium steps down progressively at each end of the building, producing a space that tapers in section from the point of arrival to the reception area.

The street provides opportunity for entry at each end of the building and allows for a wide range of tenant scenarios. The cladding consists of a system of interlocking L-shaped anodised aluminium panels, finished in gold or silver according to the use of internal spaces. This shimmering elevation subtly reflects changes in light and weather conditions, while the high levels of insulation and solar control incorporated in each panel reduce energy consumption.
