We’ve worked with this client on a number of exciting projects and this one was no different.
The site had an established presence on the high street but was long overdue a makeover so we worked alongside the team behind the local Kilburn Ironworks as well as the prestigious interior design studio KKD. We lead the charge on architecture, developing an surprising response to the complex rear garden and testing ideas for the front facade before carefully navigating the project through planning. As the project is within a conservation area we had to work carefully with the existing townscape to ensure a fitting scheme which respected it’s context.
During concept design we worked hard to ensure we made best use of the space to the rear of the bar and improve the complex basement level. We were proud to develop a clever solution to create a bridge from the garden onto the main bar with a serving hath allowing customers in the garden to access the bar without the need to descend into the basement bar. We went on to develop and resolve the technical details, satisfying the requirements of building control, before managing the tender process and finally assisting with on-site supervision.
This split level venue now offers two distinct offerings with a bright naturally lit ground floor and a more intimate basement level with cocktail offerings to match. The garden is formed by a new stepped level outdoor serving area that will be connected with the ‘sunken garden’, an outdoor seating area at basement level. It’s a great establishment perfect for a catch-up with friends or for a larger reservation over some perfectly curated cocktails.
