Hey Joe

Collectif Etc as Architects

In March 2015, we were with Agathe Sicard in Nice, to collaborate in the rehabilitation project of the Carolina Moretti and Paul Matet apartment, two architects friends.

“Hey Joe
Course not like that, tell
There’s no fire in you (…) ”

They buy a top floor on the hillside, like a small house perched on the shores of Nice. The guys are there to give a helping hand. Everyone gets started to destroy the remnants of the old apartment, recovering the volume of the attic and give ideas for development.

Caro and Polo propose to build the wall-cabinet-staircase and kitchen. The sketch is already there, but it remains to refine the set, make it buildable and especially do hawesome.

Together with Agathe, a friend also architect, we are working on details to go to completion. Other activities will be completed by local entrepreneurs, such as Mounir and Ahmed brothers who will care for insulation, plasterboard or soil.

The windows are manufactured by a local family enterprise. We continued onsite: the wall-cabinet-staircase, the kitchen, the railings and the net. We are also responsible for the construction of the mezzanine alternating IPE beam and recovery joists of the old ceiling.

This project was an opportunity for us to work in another way: less improvisation, more detail; a private project owner for the first time. All this is not without questions, we will deepen again!

Thanks to Agathe Sicard for the invaluable and unfailing support; to Milene Servelle for architectural photos; to Louis-Phong for pork caramel; Ahmed and Mounir for expert advice; Lili, a fantastic grandmother for having welcomed and hosted us; a very large arm Vado, Edith, Manu, Benoît, Sacha, Eloka and Richard  for demolition; Polo, Caro and Joline for their confidence.
