The house is located in the village of Carvalhal, on the Alentejo coast in the south of Portugal. Here, long beaches stretch inland across flat, sandy terrain, within a landscape of pine trees. Those who come here to live or to holiday are looking for silence.
The roof is an autonomous “tray”, where one can wander playfully through subspaces with no defined function, whose varied shapes invite different forms of appropriation.
The house is organised into small, autonomous volumes, rotated in relation to one another. These rotations correspond to openings, small outdoor seating areas and the formal entrance to the house.
The layout separates the social area and the main bedroom, totalling 261 m², from the remaining four bedrooms. This allows for comfortable use: even with few people at home, the house never feels too large or empty. The total area is 395 m².
