Ichthushof is situated in the Kop van Zuid area in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. In addition to the INHolland University Rotterdam (formerly known as Ichthus Hogeschool), the site comprises offices, residential and commercial space. Now that the four buildings of the masterplan Ichthushof are almost finished, the execution of the landscape design of the central inner courtyard, a harmonic spacious composition connecting the existing and new buildings of the mixed urban network, has started.
Besides the potentials of the site it is the quality of the design of the heart of this masterplan area, which attracts the occupants of the individual buildings. The roof of the metro tube that runs through the whole landscape, is no longer an obstacle but an attractive vegetated and accessible element which enables fluid connections of the area. A rich variety of plants and trees will be alternated with paved paths and areas to allow for a quiet and natural area amidst the office buildings, university and the harbour. Opening of the project is scheduled for April 2011.
