aqua hong kong commissioned special projekt to design an interactive window and reception for their london restaurant. the brief was to drive awareness of the two restaurants on the fifth floor, through the development of an interactive brand showreel and environment installation. Each restaurant is allocated a window space (left and right) of the reception leading into a ‘water experience’ reception. the window spaces are defined by an etched acrylic mirrored box in red and black. large interactive screens are suspended into the space. The left red box defines the kyoto japanese restaurant with 35 piano wire vertically suspended meiji inspired kyoto motifs in black laser cut wood with a lacquered finish, each drop motif is weighted with giant oriental silk tassels. meiji pattern motifs are laser etched onto the mirror surface of the boxes to further develop pattering and a sense of infinite space. the right mirror black box defines the nueva northern iberian restaurant with 35 piano wire horizontal suspended classic castilian inspired motifs in laser cut oiled spanish oak, each drop motif is weighted with a large cast brass and turned wood baubles. repeat castilian motifs are laser etched onto the mirror surface of the boxes to further develop pattering and a sense of infinite space. a single piece of 6mm copper sheet is distressed and formed to create a aqua inspired patina for the entrance canopy. the aqua logo in pure copper is insert in to the body of the sheet.
