The ISN headquarters, located on the penthouse floor of a downtown Dallas midrise, is designed to meet the needs of a young, evolving company, with a culture which places a high value on the individual employee. As the architect our challenge was to create an environment that would respect and reinforce this culture as well as create a sense of identity for the company. Removing perimeter offices previously reserved for senior management opens up the incredible panorama of the Dallas skyline and allows natural light to reach dark internal spaces previously relegated to junior staff. In order to keep the perimeter views accessible to all, circulation and meeting spaces replace the existing compartmentalized offices. Open office spaces are then internalized, ceilings exposed, and low height systems furniture introduced which allows both daylight in and views out. The goal of this strategy is to eliminate a sense of corporate hierarchy giving equal access to all in keeping with the ISN culture.
