The Las Vegas Raiders today announced the transformation of two former parking lots surrounding Allegiant Stadium’s north side, currently used as Lots B and C, into a landscaped plaza. The new North Plaza will feature an elevated pedestrian walkway connecting to the Strip, a large canopy and a dedicated rideshare hub. Grimshaw is the architect of record and design leader.
Grimshaw’s design will feature a raised pedestrian deck extending from the W. Hacienda Avenue overpass to the stadium’s northern gate. Below the deck, a dedicated pick-up and drop-off zone will provide convenient access, while a large canopy spanning the plaza will offer shade for visitors waiting to enter and double as a stage for small concerts. The Boring Company’s tunnel network plans to install a station, providing another option for fans and event attendees traveling to and from the venue.
“Las Vegas already knows how to turn an event into a memorable experience — arrival, dwell time, an encore. We want to extend that experience at Allegiant Stadium. Some of the most undervalued land in American sport and entertainment is the asphalt sitting empty immediately adjacent to venues that already draw the crowd, and we're making that space part of the joy,” said Andrew Byrne, Partner at Grimshaw.
The reimagined North Plaza will serve as a model for how the spaces surrounding major sports and entertainment venues can support more than event-day parking. The design creates a more direct connection between the stadium and the Strip while providing a fl exible public space that can accommodate gatherings and events throughout the year. Together with the Hacienda Bridge connection, the project creates a safer, more legible arrival experience that extends the stadium environment and reinforces the Raiders’ presence beyond the stadium gates.
"We’re grateful to Grimshaw for their partnership and collaboration on this project," said Raiders President Sandra Douglass Morgan. "We look forward to working together to bring these improvements to life and continue enhancing the experience at Allegiant Stadium for Raider Nation and all of our guests," said Sandra Douglass Morgan, President of the Las Vegas Raiders.
