Drama and dance complex: auditorium of 971 seats, flexible auditorium of 400 seats, drama and dance studio, restaurant.

The Front de Maine theatre is a major building for the town of Angers and its region. This building is the vector of cultural dynamism which Angers has demonstrated for many years now. Developed around the “creation, training, urban animation” trend, the theatre’s architecture enhances urbanity. This connecting architecture strikes the bond between performance, the dance studio and the city itself. Le Quai is a well-rounded, delicate and joyful building that opens onto its immediate surroundings, Roi René Castle and the banks of the River Maine. It is open both for artists and for all the general public. Its two monumental gates represent a tide barrier and have become the symbol of the building. Behind these gates, the large volume of the Forum emerges; 12 m high, 55 m long and 20 m wide. The Forum is a unique spot in France. It is dedicated to culture and social interaction and establishes a dual stage connection: the theatre to the city, and the city to the theatre. It is an open area allowing entertainment to take place inside the city. It is also the auditorium’s urban antechamber. The Forum features welcome desks, a ticket booth and a bar, and provides access to superposed galleries. They offer framed views onto the Forum through a thick concrete wall punctuated with openings. Thus, the two auditoria are directly connected to the Forum area, a transition space from the city, open to artistic rehearsals. The building has been designed according to environmental design standards.
