Designed by IA Interior Architects in 2014, the 40,000-square-foot Chicago office spans two floors. On each, employees camp out on chaise lounges, beanbag chairs and even on the open interior staircase, which has seating along the adjacent wall. Underneath the stairs, what could have been wasted space is covered with custom foam floor cushions from Feek Furniture.
The idea of “nooks”—each with a unique theme—prevails. In one elegant take, a row of semi-private booths is illuminated by crystal chandeliers. Look closer and you'll see that the custom banquette seating is a whimsical take on a classic wingback chair. In another, affectionately called the Speakeasy, wood walls, tin ceilings and antique-style lighting accent a large, open space that's used for biweekly videoconferences with other LinkedIn offices.
Employees can blow off steam in a multipurpose room that can transform into a foosball or ping-pong playroom to a movie theater. Foam seating can be configured easily for different events or tucked away when it isn't needed.Murals by local artists Jason Brammer and Chris Silva channel iconic Chicago imagery.
