Modernist villa

NA NO WO Architekci as Architects

This historic villa from the interwar period is located in Wrocław,  in the district which is under conservation protection. The main objective of reconstruction was restoring the modernist character of the building, which has been lost as a result of a previous repair. For this purpose, the windows and their dimensions were changed , to adapt to the original state of the building.

After the reconstruction the object, in the investor's assumption, will be indended for two people. Therefore the original functional arrangement was organized as the service zone and the owner appartment, which was rearanged. In order to increase the comfort of comunication in the house, creating good lighting and spaciousness of the rooms, designers partially deleted walls, removed some internal doors and raised their lintels. This changes, allowed to open the kitchen, remove the vestibule to increase the lobby space and combine the space between two day rooms. Last changes in the floor plan were connection between house and garage, providing access to the terrace from the living room. In project to create privacy and sun protection on the ground, floor terraces and pergolas were designed construction made of round white pipes with steel wire for the vegetable vines. Pergolas refer to similar spatial elements characteristic of modernist buildings, also located in Wroclaw.

The interior design was based on white, which was the background for a rich collection of paintings belong to the investor . One of contrasting details, was a designed furnitures in navy blue color. Elements of equipment like lamps, furniture, reinforced glass refer to the modernist style. Herringbone floor recreates the original arrangement, and the furniture in the main bathroom was designed using original ceramic washbasin from 30's XX century.
