OPTIMA SECURES LARGEST PROJECT TO DATE AT ABU DHABI SECURITY EXCHANGE
Leading developer of partitioning systems, Optima, has secured it largest project to date - a bespoke partitioning system for the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.
The exchange project has been 2 years in development, and is being built on the Sowwah Island development, the new financial hub in Abu Dhabi. The island has been masterplanned by global architectural practice Gensler and is being developed by John Buck International, a joint venture between asset management company Mubadala Development and Chicago-based real estate firm The John Buck Co.
At the centre of the island will be Sowwah Square. Designed by US architects Goettsch Partners, the commercial development will contain over 570,000 square metres of office, hotel and retail amenities. It will feature premium quality business facilities and amenities including extensive conference facilities, a 300-seat auditorium, a five-star business hotel with serviced apartments, exclusive parking for over 5,200 vehicles, a private business club, fine dining and waterfront luxury retail. The Abu Dhabi Security Exchange will be the anchor tenant of Sowwah Square.
As part of the creation of this exceptional development, the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange required a bespoke office partitioning system. In collaboration with Gensler, Optima adapted and enhanced its Revolution 69 System. Using its patented Nebula joint, Optima developed the system so that it now delivers a flush bonded appearance over polished aluminium profiles, meeting the client’s exact requirements. At 3.5 metres the ceiling heights in combination with the overall drama of the space being created will make the partitioning and their minimalist design a key feature.
Using its vast experience and ability to create innovative solutions, Optima Systems LLC beat world competition to secure the project, fighting off fierce competition from companies all around the world. In total, Optima will be providing a multi-million dollar order of partitioning systems for the vast building.
The stock exchange building has been designed to function as an icon, surrounded by four office towers, ranging from 31 to 37 storeys in height. The stock exchange building will rise on 27-metre high granite pillars above a 49-metre diameter water feature. The pillars will house stairs and service elements for the project, while the roof area will be the size of a football pitch.
The Abu Dhabi Security Exchange project is the largest single project to have been secured by Optima and makes a continued growth of schemes with blue chip clients in the Middle East. Other projects include Aldar Properties’ new iconic headquarters in Abu Dhabi, new offices for Shell, Deutsche Bank, Cleveland Clinic and Exxon Mobil in United Arab Emirates, offices for Pfizer in Dubai and new offices for PWC and Allen Overy in Doha.
