Park in Filothei, Athens, Greece

This proposal for a small park in Filothei, an affluent area of Athens, creates an artificial ecology to compliment the natural one, which is dominated by the small river Podoniftis. In order to preserve all existing trees, the west part of the site features minimal interventions, with linear paths and seating areas. The eastern part recreates "river banks", by rearanging the existing ground and using chain-link boxes filled with local stone. These allow the formation of playground areas, a small amphitheatric space and a gazebo and are colorfully planted. The "banks" also function as a sound baffer zone for protection from the noisy adjacent highway.
