Despite an enlargement of the deck for the new TRAM on the refurbished Adolphe Bridge it was not possible to integrate a cycle-lane. On the other hand, the construction of a cycle-path on the deck would have involved a 30 cm lifting of the protected balustrade. Those points lead us to provide a new cycle-bridge between the two arches of the bridge underneath the deck. The new bridge consists of a light steel deck of 4.00 m width and a clearance of 3.80 m. The structure is suspended at the concrete deck slab of the Adolphe Bridge. This new connection is barely visible from the outside and confers a refreshing contemporary design in symbiosis with the strength of the historic arches of the Pont Adolphe. The attractive access to the bridge will invite cyclists and pedestrians to choose a pleasant and comfortable alternative to cross the Petrusside Valley.
