A Dream Penthouse on lake Lugano.
Working with thw shape of the terraced land, Architect Pietro Corcione transform the top floor of a ‘70S villa into an elegant residence with a garden.
Melide is a village of two thousand inhabitants on Lake Lugano.
Some time ago, a young italian entrepreneur found the attivo f a house from the ‘70S to buy and renovate.
Due to its particuler locations, this could be transformed into a villa with a swimming pool. “When the client telephoned me,” says Pietro Corcione architect, to ask about the apartment he intended to buy, I visualized the breathtaking panorama which could be enjoyed on the terrace.
The apartment consist of the upper floor of the residence which, starting from the road, is built on levels along the slope of the hill; this particolar structure of thr soil allows it to benefit from natural terraces. The result is thereforean attic with its own natural garden. “By following building guidelines, we were able to close the terrace and incorporate it into apartment, explains the architect; the new space was covered with a structure of laminated wood beams, timber planking and upper cover, designed to createa garden roof”.
This strong symbiosis with the environment influenced the interiors, for which architect Corcione opted for a balanced palette of material san colors; the solid wall that separates the living room from the kitchen was covered with Cardoso stone slabs. In continuation of this wall a ceiling panelling in oak strips beautifully delimits the sofa area, giving warmth and comfort to the entire room.
The living room with a more intimate area near the window, an Eames Lounge Chair an Ottoman complements a Joe Colombo Coupè floor lamp creating a reading space. The sofà is custom made.
The interior design revolves around a “CUBE” that encloses a service bathroom covered in marble Emperador Dark and a closet. The open space of the kitchen communicates withthe cube. The project is completed by three double en-suite bedrooms. The garden made up of natural terraces, offersa natural extension to the apartment.
