Designed to be a refuge for a couple and their three children in the interior of São Paulo - in the condominium Quinta da Baroneza, in Bragança Paulista - the Pitombas House, from the office of Gilda Meirelles Arquitetura, is marked by the integration of its environments in an all first floor project, sectored in social and private modules. The final result is a house of contemporary architecture, translated mainly by the flat roof and openings that visually integrate internal and external areas.
Natural materials, such as wood and stones - responsible for the country house aspect - are mixed with glass and metallic structure to give dynamics to the house from the façade. At the entrance, the water mirror welcomes visitors and accompanies them through the gallery that connects the social and intimate areas. With glass closures, this hall still visually connects the interior of the house with the external leisure area.
To provide privacy in a ground floor residence, the solution was to divide it into modules, which can be seen in the wide view of the project through the variation in height of its roof. As a meeting point between the private and social modules, a spacious TV room to accommodate family and friends.
In the external area, the slope of the land was used to enhance both the development of the swimming pool, overlooking nature, and the gym with sauna which, with its glass structure, allows a view of the garden that is at a lower level. The leisure area also has a balcony protected by large berais and equipped with a barbecue grill integrated to the dining area. The wood ceiling and shutters are combined with aluminum frames with a matte brown finish. The use of metallic materials, in fact, gave agility to the construction work and reduced the waste generated.
