The building is located in a typical small block of Seoul surrounded by high-rise apartment buildings, low-income multiplex houses, and low-rise office buildings. It is a five-story multiplex building composed of six studio-typed residences and different typed offices. Its volume and shape are seriously limited by the building code because it is right on the corner of very narrow streets. But the regulations became a design motive rather than a limitation. The shape of the building is nicely carved by the oblique line limitation.



The owner of the building that houses the Plastics & People Office occupies the 4th and 5th floors. “Plastics & People," the client of this commission is a small enterprise that produces plastic pigment. The main colors the office makes are black and white. For this reason, the façade and interior space are mostly achromatic. However, the colorful accent walls in the lobby and CEO office filled with small color grains create a welcoming atmosphere.



The six studios on the 2nd and 3rd floors have a separate entrance on the opposite side of the main entrance.



Each 18 sqm small studio is divided by bedroom and house work zones. The bed is not in the sight when one opens the entrance door so that the resident maintains privacy. The interior space is tightly completed with no unnecessarily finishes. The structure be comes the finishing material as it is. The residents have more space in the room, enjoying genuine the property of the materials.
