The new Antwerp recycling parks were conceived as moments of clarity around the city outskirts. Each facility contains a recycling square with large bins arranged below raised visitor platforms.
In addition to a reception building and a covered sorting area, there is a tall mast next to each container. The combination of pavilion, canopy, and masts define the square as an urban space.
Expressive, industrial materials establish a workmanlike common denominator for these three key components. Rapid building blocks, grey concrete, pine planks, and galvanised steel create an industrially playful environment. Monochrome accents emphasise the clarity of the composition.
