The design of this project - five single-storey apartments overlooking the wooded hillside of Bom Jesus - was a great challenge due to the terrain's steep slope, the configuration of the buildable area and the application of the regulations.
Given the difficulties of implantation and access and with the concern to provide a panoramic view of the Bom Jesus park from the street, the volume was embedded in the hillside, closely linked to the surrounding gardens.
This arrangement resulted in atypical spaces, such as the courtyard at the main entrance or the retention pond, which gravity feeds with water from the mines in the area.
The granite walls that support the platforms respond to the set of painted concrete panels, voluntarily autonomous.
In the intervals between the concrete planes and the granite walls, the growth of trees, plants in the flower boxes and the surrounding garden, contribute to a dotted insertion into the landscape of the built complex.
