Benches, toilet, trash bin and a shelter encompassed the request for this roadside parking area, which also serves as a trail head to a mountain waterfall. Noting a dilapidated bridge up the river, PUSHAK proposed wrapping the entire program into a new crossing. The move meant creating a distinct architectural object to contrast the rough yet grand landscape, instead of scattering its grounds with furniture. The bridge’s turning form, comprising a three-dimensional prefabricated steel frame enveloping a wood interior, leads hikers and visitors to the trail system.
