One of the first houses on the street St James’s Place was originally built C1760 as one of a pair of dwellings.
The property in now listed and we have taken a great deal of care in the restoration and renovation of the existing house whilst adding a contemporary addition to the rear which compliments and contrasts with the existing structure.
The design of the building was adjusted and refined to take full advantage of the light space and connection to the basement, which fully augments the lifestyle of the owners with the addition of cinema, gym, hidden laundry space and connection to the garden for the pets.
St James’s Place is a perfect mix of old and new fused into a distinctive private home which respects its past and breaths new life into an old listed building and the built environment of Guernsey; it has fulfilled the client brief, responded to its context, and is truly an unique extension to the rear of this existing listed family home.
